2006 In Review

Now lets see... 2006 has been an uneventful/eventful year.

This is what my hair looked like on Dec 31st, 2005:

This is what my hair looks like now:

And now.... 2006 in review:
2006 started off with a religious duel of the heart. Judaism won out over tall, skinny waspiness. And then I was single again shortly thereafter. That's about as exciting as my love life got all year. I had my heart broken and lived to realize that it didn't hurt that badly, and then I had my heart broken and realized I was really heartbroken about it. Shame on me... shame on you. I heard explantions of explantions. I learned what it really means to stand up for myself and what I believe in. I had two sets of friends that I set up fall in love and/or get engaged. I lived an entire year on my own. I made new friends. I got rid of some friends who weren't really friends. I finished writing 10 is just a 1 and a 0. We got into the fringe!!! I saw some super movies Little Miss Sunshine, The Science of Sleep, Borat. I saw some crappy movies The Illusionist, The Hills Have Eyes. I read lots of books (but that's nothing new). I conquered some demons. I finally stopped biting my nails once and for all. I chopped my hair into a more sophisticated, and adult 'do. I started wearing makeup to work (I'm up to Day 8 - we'll see if it lasts). I learned from a wise woman that if you really want something, you shouldn't give up and admit defeat. I realized that I'd rather be single than have a 8/10 relationship.
I got to see Selin in 2006 and that was the best gift of all, even if I did get fat and need to be airlifted to the hospital for gastric bypass surgery. No more fast food. August 6-21 were the best days of the year, even if I got dumped over chicken during that time... Other good things happened too :)
Tania, Steph and I learned that our favorite position seems to be on the couch with our feet up sans underwear (on any given night of the week).
Simon and Tania created some important rules for me to follow. So far so good!
I survived a year without Dave in the same city as me. It wasn't easy...

Tony wants an honorable mention: Tony - you rock. Thanks for sending me musical lyrics!
Here's to a spectacular 2007!!

Movie Weekend

Here are my movie reviews for this long weekend...

BTW - I loved my first Christmas! Dinner was awesome, and I even got presents!!! Yay! And tonight, dinner with Lauren's family and I even got a present there too. This has overall been an extremely relaxing (and most needed weekend).

Stick It
Everyone likes a movie about gymNICEtics... It had a story line! Who would have thought that was possible? When it ended I had an urge to warm up and do cartwheels up and down my street. Thankfully the weather was terrible and I stayed inside. It would definitely have ended with me at the hospital with something broken.
Beerfest
This was the comedy of the year - after my dear BORAT of course. Saw this movie with 4 other people. At first they were not thrilled about my rental choice (except for Simon). At the end, we all thought it was hilarious!!!
The Sound of Music
I am 16 going on 17. Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. THE HILLS ARE ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC.... What more really needs to be said?
Akeelah and the Bee
What a cute movie! I thought I was a good speller, but I've got a lot to learn! I watched this movie while I FINALLY finished my much needed ironing.
The DaVinci code
The book was better. I am not crazy about Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon. Overall the movie was very good though. You just have to ignore the book completely.
One more day off and then back to work. This weekend has been interesting. Lots to think about, but no actions to take for at least a couple of weeks. I can't afford any added stress right now. So I am just taking things day by day and enjoying.
Happy early Tuesday morning :)

Who needs an explantion of an explantion?

The spelling error is on purpose.

As an aside, last night I decorated my first Christmas Tree (Thanks Tanita!!!). I am a pro with the ornaments - not the lights. Who makes lights that if one is out, they all go out? That's just dumb... And then Yummy lamb on Sunday night for Christmas dinner. I'm so spoiled!!!
So back to the real story... Nothing really to say except that ENGLISH is my first language and I understand it very well. If you feel the need to repeat hurt my feelings, please try it in French, Spanish or Hebrew - or maybe a language I don't understand at all - like Arabic, Mandarin, Japanese, Turkish...

In the words of someone I know - That's it! I'm officially on a break. If you are a dude and you aren't already in my life in some way - I'm not interested.

APRIL FOOLS

What do you get when you mix an Argentinean and a Polak? DISASTER!!

OK, I like to overexaggerate things... I know... It's in my nature. But tonight, I swear, there is nothing being exaggerated. This week has been less than pleasant. I knew that since last week was so fucking amazing... this week couldn't possibly be as good. Thanfully, my good friends Tania, and Simon have stepped in with a friendtervention to help me set some new rules for my life.

1. No more Jdate. Ever. (which is fine by me)
2. No more sleepovers that don't involve some sort of fornication whether it be oral or otherwise.
3. No dating men that have been out of a relationship for less than 9 months.
4. Never recycle old dates, even if they were REALLY nice, and/or hot.
5. No dating men that have glasses
6. No dating men that live in the plateau.
7. No dating men that don't pick me up.
8. No more dessert.
9. No dating men that don't speak English as a first language. Some things may get LOST IN TRANSLATION.
10. Return my retard magnet that I bought on EBay.

Now, I know I sound bitter... that's fine. Really, all this has done is add one more scene to 10 is Just a 1 and a 0.

But to any of you that read the title and think I was kidding about what I called to tell you... SADLY, I was not. But let's all be friends because I love hanging out with you. Tania says I should now understand why "her people" hate Argentineans... I will admit that I am deeply saddened by the turn of events that took place this evening because really, I never saw this one coming, not in a million years.

HAPPY FRIDAY.

BTW - this was my horoscope for today - FUNNY

Tamara
December 14, 2006
You may be feeling like a snail who is emerging from her shell, Tamara. When no one is looking, you slowly, cautiously stick your head out and put up your antenna to take a reading on the outside world. When you see a creature similar to yourself, you feel comfortable and come out of your shell a little more. Be careful of letting your defenses down too much, however, because a big hungry chicken is coming along who is looking for his dinner.

That's it! I'm officially off chicken.

Hot Potato

I was really excited to post today because I honestly had a spectacular weekend. Unfortunately my day today has been all around shit.

I woke up this morning with a really sore throat - which may be attributed to the fact that I didn't wear a jacket when I went outside to get fresh air last night. Then I found out some stuff at work that has my brain moving at the speed of light and I don't know whether to laugh or cry anymore.

What to do???

Have dinner with friends. That's my plan. Tania is saving me and her friend Chrissy is cooking us Chinese food for dinner. YUM!

The weekend was awesome though. Official date #2, and salsa dancing. Andres says I have potential and coming from him - that means a lot to me. I'm not very good though... maybe after a few drinks I'd be better. Plus, I get frustrated easily when I can't live up to my own expectations and that always puts me in a sour mood. Thankfully, I did not suck alone.

I'm out.

Es el fin de semana

Buenas noches todos. Soy en la casa de mi madre y padre. Yo practico mi espagnol. Bueno?

The picture to the left is from my Holiday Dinner last night. What a super fun time!! I partied like it was 1999 all over again. The music was a perfect mix of slow, fast, and fun. No one did anything too scandalous (above the usual grinding on the dance floor - is that was we will all become one day??? Holiday party grinders??? The one time of the year where we have freedom so we grind our coworkers??? Please shoot me if I ever behave that way). I on the other hand, was very well behaved. I was also a rockstar!! See picture on the right. I was sober too!!! See - I can be fun!!!
Anyway, tonight, dinner with the rents - Corey is off the hook again for dinner with Becky's family. After dinner, Steph and I are going to meet DAVE for drinks! Yay! Dave is home just for one night and I am so excited that I get to see him. Sorry Selin.
My tarot today was interesting:
You’ve got green lights everywhere in your romantic life, dear tamara! You’re under the powerful protection of the pair Justice/Temperance, which is offering you serenity and foresight in the emotional realm. Thanks to your perceptual acuity and your capability to listen to what others have to say, harmony will be reigning in your emotional interaction. You’re behaving in a way that makes it easy for people to understand and even love you. Certain people are trying to stir up trouble in your professional environment, and yet you're managing to preserve an Olympian calm. You're not exactly the rebellious type! The Tower and Temperance indicate that the world could collapse around your ears, and you'd still know how to adapt to the change and rebuild on the ruins. You're a shining example to others!
And my horoscope:

The planetary configuration brings a sudden sense of clarity. You may have felt confused about a few things associated with your love life. First of all, you realize that sitting around waiting for the right person to drop in and suddenly be everything your heart desires, is not going to happen. Second, it becomes obvious that nothing will ever happen if you don't go forward and meet life halfway.

Not too shabby if I do say so myself.
Happy fin de semana everyone!

YEEHAW!

OK peeps! We fucking did it! Excuse the swearing, but I've been so excited since last night that I feel the incessant urge to use foul language.

Last night, Sarit and I went to the Fringe lottery. There was a lot of hand holding, shaking, sweating and shivering (and that was just me!). 48 shows applied to be picked for 19 spots in the show. AND WE FUCKING MADE IT!!! OK, I will stop with the potty mouth now!

Well, we're in, and now the work begins. Scenes to film, lines to learn, ex-boyfriend devils to blow up... All in the name of fun. Fringe runs June 7-17th this year (I think).

Last night I ate dessert. Don't tell anyone. I still prefer a bag of Ms. Vickies, but I could get used to banana with caramel spread.

Got three pair of jeans on Saturday, despite 3.5 hours of sleep. Also, had a fun night out with the girls- and Tony. VIP - yum! I actually had two dinners on Saturday. They were both good. Shed makes a delicious Frites Sauce.

Happy almost Wendesday... The weekend is almost here again :)

2nd First dates are underrated

There really is not much to say. I had the best time last night and only had 3.5 hours of sleep because I have to meet my parents this morning. I am really happy today. So now - my legions of fans - think some happy thoughts for me, ok? I'm due.

Off to buy new jeans, and Simon's Christmas present.
