Happy Weekend!

It's Friday night. I'm at home. Sitting on my couch and about to work on V.3 of my show. I've got it all pretty much mapped out and I am ready to go. This week was pretty intense. I'm really busy at work which is great. Everything is pretty super, professional and personal.

I finished Storm Front. It was so good! I'm really glad it's a series because I'm going to go buy the rest of them :) What a nerd! That's me!!!

Tomorrow is Christian Bale day. woohoo! I have to be in Verdun at 3pm. I'm really hoping that the shoot doesn't end late because I'm supposed to be at a party at 9pm. It's a tacky dress like a loser party... I intend to go in whatever weird 1964 hair & makeup they give me... I bet I'll look just SUPER!

Happy me. Hope everyone had a fun internet date... you know who you are your drunkards.

Upside down and Inside out

Today, I got dressed with my eyes closed. Not only do I not match, but I just went to pee and realized I had my underwear on inside out. Oops! That's what you get for only having 5 hours of sleep - and NO I AM NOT COMPLAINING... I just looked really silly jumping up and down and trying to balance so that my feet wouldn't touch the floor while I flipped my undies back the right way.

I'd like a martini.

According to MSN - this is my horoscope for today...

Sun Sign
Cancer
Are you in love, dear Cancer? You might find that thoughts of your beloved haunt you today, even while you're apart. Desire and passion could be practically obsessive, but they'll interfere with your other projects if you aren't careful. Try to stay focused on the tasks at hand, and make a date to get together with your partner later. You'll want to keep all departments of your life in their proper perspective, after all!!

I HAVE BEEN FOCUSED TODAY, AND ACTUALLY GOT A LOT OF WORK DONE! And I just read the horoscope now at 4:26... Those fortune tellers (or fortune "writers") don't know what they are talking about.

I've decided on my two alternate endings for "10 is just a 1 and a 0." They are both equally interesting. Now I just have to finish writing. I've given myself a deadline of October 15th. That's when Megan & Simon are coming over for a cold reading.

I more than halfway through Storm Front. It's so cheesy!!! But it's getting REALLY good. I'm hooked to another boy book. Crap! Soon I'll be playing dungeons & dragons!

I'm feeling very chilled out because I've just finished 3 Radiohead albums. I haven't been on Shuffle today... the tunes have just been playing in order.

Simon crapped out on me for tonight because he "isn't feeling well." He SUCKS! (sorry simon - I still love you. Just get better). I was going to make a BBQ, but I may not now... We'll see what kind of mood I'm in when I get home.

NOTHING WILL RUIN MY DAY

OK - So what if I only had a nap this morning before coming to the office? So what if I am an almost useless waste of flesh today. My dreams are coming true and no one is going to burst my bubble.

I got a call from one of the local casting agencies that they need an actra member for a shoot this weekend to be a waitress... OK - sure, I can pretend (I have never really been a waitress unless you count camp, and the spaghetti dinner at Beth Tikvah)... in a movie that Christian Bale stars in. I LOVE HIM. I am really not a startsruck person... I've worked on a hundred sets over the years and these things really don't phase me... BUT CHRISTIAN BALE!!! Someone pinch me!!! The only thing better would be the threesome porn movie that Dave and Selin came up with, but that is a whole other story.

As an aside - my parents played such a nasty trick on Corey and I this weekend... They had us going for a good 45 minutes that cousin Helen used to follow us when we went out to make sure we weren't getting into any trouble. Now, I wasn't worried for myself as I was somewhat of a goody-goody in high school (Helen would have had much more fun following me around when I was at McGill), but Corey... hooo boy!!! He started spilling all the beans to her "Did you see me here with so and so..." Finally I said "Mom, please tell me you are joking... and she started to laugh.

HA HA. Funny parentals. Funny.

Movie review: The Hills Have Eyes

This movie was sick, perverted, weird and gory. The acting was not fantastic, and I laughed quite a few times. I don't think I was supposed to be laughing. And another thing, if you have the choice between Moulin Rouge and this film - watch Moulin Rouge for the hundreth time. Sing the songs... Horror films should not be watched at midnight on Sundays before starting off the week. I am so bloody tired today.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... leftovers for dinner. Matzah ball soup anyone?

Bathing suit update: Washed, folded and back where it belongs. Thanks also to Dave for remembering the stuff I forgot at his house. Just call me Forgetful Jones...

I got my clothes back!

They smell like the country so they need to be washed... BUT THEY ARE IN MY POSSESSION!!!

YAY!!!

I would like to point out that CTV screwed up Grey's Anatomy and completely ruined my night of TV viewing.

Shana Tova to you and yours.

Happy McThursday!

For the next few months I will be a hermit on Tursdays nights, doing nothing but sitting my ass on the couch and watching TV. There is so much to choose from and I am even going to need to use my VCR. (Yes, I own a VCR)

The Office, Grey's Anatomy, CSI, I'm going to watch that new show six degrees... I'm so giddy!!! Is it 8 o'clock yet??

I'm into the second "boy recommended" book. It's called Stormfront, and is the first in a series about a wizard who consults to the police. At first, I wasn't so into it... I've given it a chance and I have to say, it's pretty good...

Last night I went to the hockey game with my brother - who I might point out is still having sex while Simon and I are not! We sat in the "eat free food all night" section. I gained 2 pounds. hahahahaha! But the nachos were sooooooooooooooooo good.

The challenge is DONE

I made it!!! I am proud to say that the special K challenge is complete. I will go on the scale one last time tonight (after stuffing myself with food at the hockey game), but I believe that in total I lost 4.5 pounds. Tomorrow I will try on THE PANTS again.

I hurt my back. I have a bandage on my foot to somehow help my back heal faster. I know it makes no sense, but my chiropractor knows what he is talking about and I really do feel better today than I did yesterday. I am hoping that tomorrow will be an even better day.

Tomorrow night my bathing suit will be retrieved and all will be forgotten about the bathing suit scandal of 2006 - although it will be forever immortalized in the story of Allan the Shmuck. I am hoping to have version 3 of 10 is just a 1 and a 0 ready for review in early October.

I am not mad anymore

I'm going to blame my bad mood of the last few days entirely on my lack of yummy food. I know that when I am hungry I am cranky, but I feel that I have taken it to a new level. I feel great. I'm not as hungry. I've lost 4.5 pounds. I am drinking more milk than I have in the last 5 years. Yay!!! But I am still craving a Dagwoods sandwich.

I had a decent weekend. Friday night I did nothing. Saturday night was girls night. Last night, Tania made really yummy sushi.

Movie review: Last Kiss

I really like Zach Braf (not to mention the fact that he's easy on the eyes), but I HATED HIM IN THIS MOVIE. His character (although really raw and real) was so deplorable. I don't know what I would do if my boyfriend (that I don't have), husband (that I don't have), or father of my child (thank g-d Frank and I broke up or I could be a mother!) cheated on me. Could I take someone back after that?

After it all happens he talks a lot about how it was a one time thing and it will never happen again. How can someone make promises like that?

In the end, I really liked the movie, but it made me very mad.

I don't like being angry on Sundays

I have a date this morning with Special K. I was supposed to have a date with someone else, but seeing as that is not going to be happening, I'm going with old reliable. Special K doesn't let you down... doesn't disappoint... always acts the way its supposed to.

Thursday, September 14, 2006

I HATE SPECIAL K

Oh barf - this whole challenge thing is making me a little nutty... I'm now on Day 9. 5 more days to go. When this is over, I don't even care about the pant size anymore... All I know is I can't stop because I'm not a quitter and I'm almost there... But what I would give for a Dagwoods Sandwich right now... Yuck!

The other night, Clarisse and I had THE most incredible meal that I've had in a LONG time. AIX at the Place D'Armes hotel makes Tuna Tartar to DIE FOR... and the best 20 oz. ribsteak I've ever had... and the creme brulee!!! oh my goodness!! I can still taste it!

If you haven't already, please take a look at www.openletterstojerks.com - Please participate and pass the link along to your friends, family, enemies, whoever...

Can't wait for the weekend... I am tired. I think it might have something to do with the lack of yummy food... I realized this week just how much I love it.

My bathing suit has been found but who really cares?

What an afternoon!

It's like a train wreck... I can't stop listening to the radio... It's amazing how one moment can make you feel so weird. I didn't even realize my cousin was there when it happened and was fairly close to where the shooter was... Thank goodness he got out ok...

I went to Dawson - 2 of the most memorable years of my life - and I loved it. I'm glad I have no kids, and I'm glad my brother's girlfriend, and my cousin, are ok (and of course everyone else...)...

Scary scary shit.

Puts things into perspective and makes you not really care so much about missing clothes (even if they have been found).

I can't wait to hug my brother.

BTW - CNN totally sensationalizes things... CNN is reporting 4 dead and at least 13 wounded... Let's be clear: 1 dead (the shooter), and 11 injured with no more injuries arriving at the hospital. Amazing...

My missing clothes

Attention!!! Has anyone seen the above items of clothing??? They were last seen in a bathroom near Ste. Agathe. I am offering a $2 reward to get them back in perfect condition. I am sad without them.

Special K challenge - Day 6

I am munching on dry cereal as the thought of another bowl of soggy cereal makes me want to vomit a little bit... I will drink the milk separately so that my bones grow strong! I love my Nalgene container... Holds just enough milk for two bowls of cereal. 8 more days to go!

Yesterday, I finished The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies - it was awesome. I laughed all the way to the end, and I really am excited to read the follow-up. And - I will actually look into reading some of this dudes other offerings. The characters were very funny, the writing was funny, it was all just funny. I'm sorry to not write much more than that but the story is so unbelievable that you honestly have to read it yourselves.

As for my roller coaster of a day yesterday:

1. My little cousin's bday party was fun. See flickr for pictures. She's 11. She's cute. She seemed to be very happy. My mother and her "estranged" (there's really no other word for it) hugged each other hello and almost sent the other relatives into a panic. It was hilarious! It was arranged in advance... My aunt had called my mom. I hope they can work things out - for my mother...

2. The engagement party. It was BEAUTIFUL. Flan looked gorgeous and she was glowing. The food was awesome. The live band was very entertaining. I made friends with a 3 year old named Jamie (3 year old boys love me!). The ex-roomies told my friend in advance that they wouldn't so much as say hello to me. I think they are 5 year olds. Really and truly. And I do think I overhead one of them tell my friend she was sorry for her because she was going home with me. I'm glad I am a grown up.

Today has been a LONG and emotional day

I am so glad that it is time for bed.....

Tomorrow I will write a book review - I finished the Hollow Chocolate Bunnies

I will also write about Taryn's birthday party (she turned 11). The picture is my great-great auntie Goldie and I.

And I will write about Flannery's beautiful engagement party and my nasty ex roomies (oh Selin - I am so glad I can hold my head high and be an ADULT and not be a 33 year old CHILD).

And my hair is brown(er).

Movie Reviews!

#1 - The Illusionist (I promised this review days ago)

I didn't like it. I figured out what was going on very quickly into the movie, and then I had to watch it happen. I found that it dragged and the characters weren't very engaging. My favorite part was Edward Norton's pretty eyes. He does have pretty eyes. Jessica Biel is certainly a looker, but meh... Overall not so great... Wouldn't watch it again and kind of wish I hadn't seen it.

#2 - The Aristocrats

Dave promised I would either LOVE IT, or HATE IT. I laughed a few times, but not out loud... more like a little internal laughter... It was nothing that special. Sorry Daveman. I know our movie tastes are usually pretty similar, but this time... NOPE.

#3 - Jesus is Magic

I loved it! I laughed for an hour... She's hilarious!

I am not hungry anymore... Still on the Special K challenge. Today was DAY 4. 10 more to go (but who's counting, right?)

Tomorrow - should be interesting... I'd put money on the fact that I will have at LEAST two good stories Monday morning.

And now, I will go write. I'm in the mood. Hopefully something good - no great! - comes out of these fingers.

I dyed my hair. Medium brown baby!!!

Special K Challenge Anyone?

Good day to all! I have embarked on a magical journey today into the land of the Special K challenge. After not fitting into my fall pants properly I made a mad dash for the gym and the Special K website. They have challenged me to eat 2 bowls of cereal a day - as meals, lots of fresh fruits and veggies as snacks, and my third meal "regular."

Today is day 1.

I ate:

Vanilla Almond Special K for breakfast with strawberries.
More strawberries as a snack.
Lafleur's for lunch (I took my mom's friend out for her birthday)
Apple juice and cucumber as a snack.
A banana.
Special K for dinner.

I only need to do this for 2 weeks and then apparently 1 pant size will magically disappear. I will keep you posted on my progress and if it works encourage you all to try it.

This morning - before I left for work I found a HUMONGOUS bug in my bathroom. I tried to kill it will a shoe. It would NOT DIE. Eventually it hid in a corner, and there I was choking back the vomit that I was about to spew all over myself... Finally I dustbusted it. I then put the dustbuster in a plastic bag, tied it up and put it in my trunk. I called my Dad "Daddy, I need you to empty my dustbuster when I come for dinner tonight." "Why?" "There's a giant bug - maybe a beetle in it and I won't touch it." "I don't want to touch it!" "DADDY!!!!!" Really - I'd rather throw it out and buy a new one. How did this bug get in my clean house??? EW EW EW EW EW!!! (My dad - wearing rubber gloves - emptied the dusbuster for me - the bug was DEAD)

I'm on chapter 23 of The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies. Still hilarious. Lots more "people" are DEAD. Fantastic.

BTW - my trip to TO was less than exciting after Friday's near arrests. The rest involved sushi, relaxing, a trip to a VERY crowded mall, a bad movie (movie review to follow below), and the LONGEST traffic-filled trip home.

I was able to create a post around a picture - thanks Selin!

I almost got someone arrested!

Note to self:

If someone calls your friend's sister's house for you and they say they are the police, you should probably listen.

Last night, after dinner, Dave's friend Mike jumped into the backseat, knocked me over and proceeded to pretty much hump me while I was concerned about my pizza being squashed. After we dropped him off, Dave noticed that an SUV was following us. After a while, it stopped and turned onto another street.

Dave dropped me off and about 10 minutes later the phone rang. It was for me. The man claimed to be a police officer.

I laughed.

He started to get very serious. He asked me if I had just been assaulted in the backseat of a dark coloured Honda Civic.

l laughed some more.

He said that I should stop laughing because he was about to arrest Dave's friend for assault. Apparently the woman in the SUV "saw a woman being assaulted in the backseat of a Civic. She was being kneed in the head." The officer put Mike on the phone and he said "listen tamara, it's not a joke. please tell the officer that i wasn't assaulting you."

I asked the officer to please hold, my cell was ringing. It was Dave. I gave it to Abby. Abby said "Dave it's a little late for jokes." he said "No joke Abby, the cops are at my place too."

So I told the police officer that no one was assaulting me , or had assaulted me, and that it was all jokes.

I was still laughing.

Abby's sister finished off the conversation with the police officer and thanked him very much for responding to the call.

I really thought it was a joke. I swear it just seemed to outrageous to be true!

No one got arrested, and everyone went home happy.

The Toronto police respond to situations very quickly. Kudos to them.

I think I have a crush on Al Gore

Last night while I was cleaning, cooking and packing, I decided to watch the MTV VMA's LIVE for the first time. What a rip off! I was hoping for some scandal... some badly dressed/slutty women... and some awesome performances. Instead, I was horrified by Jack Black's lack of funny (the only time I really laughed was when Justin Timberlake showed him the furniture he was building, and when the little cutie from Little Miss Sunshine took the stage and did a little dance with Fergie). What shocked me the most was Al Gore's interlude. I really want to see his movie. I do. The other night on ABC that had a show about the END OF THE WORLD. It scared me shitless right before bed, but it was all true, and really insightful (aside from the part where they talked about it being the US's duty to get everyone together in saving the planet... weird). We are killing the planet, and according to Stephen Hawkings, things could get bad in as little as 50 years. Dudes - I'll still be alive then!!! I'm tempted to go buy special bags for my groceries, and buy a hybrid car. Why was the electric car killed?? Now there's another movie I need to see so that I can think of other conspiracy theories. None of this is good for me, and only causes me to have nightmares. The nightmare I had last night had me wake up yelling "who's there???" because I thought there were people dancing into my room.... I think I hallucinate at night.

As an aside, thank you Val for the pictures.

I am on Chapter 17 of the book now - still funny. It's the first time I've ever broken a spine while reading a book - I'm just that into it. Ah, being into something... I'm into a book. That's my fun and exciting life for you...

I've decided that my comedic cabaret will definitely have a choose your own adventure ending and then audience will get to cheer and the loudest cheer is the ended we do. That entertains me, and I feel will add a certain je ne sais quoi to the show. Plus, you could literally come see the show twice and see two different shows. The best part is when the devil blows up - I promise!

And back to Al Gore... he's an incredibly charismatic speaker - in my opinion - and even though his speech really had no place there, and didn't fit, he was certainly hitting his target demographoic for his message. Essentially he admits that our parents screwed everything up for us and now its in our hands to fix it or our children will have nowhere to live.

He showed some pretty disturbing images of places that used to be covered in ice up to as little as 20 years ago, which now look like tropical paradise.

The following information was taken from the movie's website (go visit for fun):
http://www.climatecrisis.net

We’re already seeing changes.
  • Glaciers are melting, plants and animals are being forced from their habitat, and the number of severe storms and droughts is increasing.
  • The number of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes has almost doubled in the last 30 years.
  • Malaria has spread to higher altitudes in places like the Colombian Andes, 7,000 feet above sea level.
  • The flow of ice from glaciers in Greenland has more than doubled over the past decade.
  • At least 279 species of plants and animals are already responding to global warming, moving closer to the poles.

If the warming continues, we can expect catastrophic consequences.

  • Deaths from global warming will double in just 25 years -- to 300,000 people a year.
  • Global sea levels could rise by more than 20 feet with the loss of shelf ice in Greenland and Antarctica, devastating coastal areas worldwide.
  • Heat waves will be more frequent and more intense.
  • Droughts and wildfires will occur more often.
  • The Arctic Ocean could be ice free in summer by 2050.
  • More than a million species worldwide could be driven to extinction by 2050.

Now - my goal is obviously not to scare anyone, but carbon monoxide is trapping the heat on Earth instead of letting it escape and we're all going to be obliterated... Forget terrorism - Al Gore thinks this situation is WAY more serious...

And on a bright note, in 2 hours I am out of here and off to the wonderful land of Tdot! Yay!!!!

Are we there yet?
